Big Bend Ranch adjoins the water of North America's premier waterfowl flyway and is renowned for spectacular waterfowl pass shooting and field shooting over
decoys. A rare combination of state refuge choked with geese, gently rising hills to grain fields and strategically placed hunting blinds combine to make the hunting exceptional. Big Bend Ranch
is the home of one of the largest Canada Goose staging areas in North America and undoubtedly has some of the finest Canada Goose hunting in North America. Each year hundreds of thousands of Canada
Geese stop at the adjacent refuge on their migration south. The geese leave the refuge on the river and cross the bluffs to feed in our fields, making the most fantastic field shooting over decoys
imaginable. With proper winds and weather, pass shooting is unbelievable. Canada Geese are the primary species and at certain times you will encounter large flights of Northern Mallards,
Whitefront, Snow and Blue Geese.
Hunters show off their trophy Giant Canada Geese.
When field shooting for Canada Geese ranges of 15 - 20 yards are not uncommon.
Introducing youth to the great outdoors is great fun at Big Bend Ranch.
Big Bend Ranch's many stock dams attract migrating mallards and provide another opportunity to hunt over decoys. Waterfowl hunting usually takes place from sunrise
until 10:30 AM and in the afternoon from 3:00 PM until sunset. Combining upland game and waterfowl hunts allow you to hunt sunrise to sunset if so desired.
In addition to Canada Geese, Northern Mallards often darken the sky.
